Warena Centre for Aged Care - Bangor

Warena Centre for Aged Care - Bangor

Operated by Baptist Community Services, Warena Centre for Aged Care includes a modern low-care wing and a secure dementia-specific wing, both incorporating environmental and technological advancements, aimed at enhancing resident care.

The centre has been constructed in a way that will allow for a possible expansion in the future.

The new building includes improved resident service, parking and administration areas as well as landscaped gardens.

Carved into the solid sandstone rock at the site the buildings structure consists of two levels of concrete framing with large spans over staff carparking and amenities.  The site civil works include bitumen paved driveways and a series of split face blockwork retaining walls stepping up the rocky slopes allowing wheelchair access between the various levels, although internal lifts serve the floors from inside via an engineered concrete shaft.

Part of the level 4 roof at the rear employs a concrete roof carrying the mechanical and air conditioning units.

The 30 bed project cost was $9m.
